About

Hi folks, welcome ♥️ Writing has become a really useful tool to help shape and update my thinking. Its forcing function lets me take a closer at the events, trends and people that interest me. The best payoff is when I change my mind on a strongly held belief through the research I do while writing this newsletter.

One of the things I think about a lot is how we can apply artificial intelligence to improve human lives. Unfortunately, both as a society and as a species we're not doing of this enough just yet.

I'm also very excited about personal AI. This is because I think we've reached peak social media. And that going forward, the consumer tech landscape will be shaped first and foremost by advances in personal AI–by AI companions, AI assistants, and human-to-human interactions shaped and intermediated by AI.

If you are interested in enlisting me as one of your guides during these times of massive social, economic and technological change, you are very much welcome to subscribe to this newsletter.

Bio

Jonas Braadbaart is a freelance ML engineer based in the Netherlands. He's been working with natural language processing (NLP) and language models since 2017. His interest in NLP was first piqued during his BA in Philosophy of Language. As he was doing research using texts in more than 20 languages and 10 different writing systems, spanning 10,000 years of human development, he realised the limitations of what a single human can learn in a lifetime.

Besides natural language processing Jonas has tons of experience modelling consumer and customer behaviour, both at clients and during his MSc in Marketing Intelligence at the University of Groningen FEB. He has worked to architect, develop and roll out AI applications, behavioural models and recommender systems for anything from large-scale streaming data to small targeted marketing analytics datasets.
